Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp (25g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • ¼ tsp baking soda

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat ½ cup (113g) softened unsalted butter with ⅓ cup (70g) brown sugar and 2 tbsp (25g) granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  2. Add egg yolk and vanilla: Mix in 1 large egg yolk and 1 tsp vanilla extract until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour, ¼ tsp baking soda, and ⅛ tsp salt.
  4. Mix dry into wet: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in mini chocolate chips: Stir in ½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Chill the dough: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Form dough balls: Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, roll the dough into bite-sized balls (about 1-inch/2.5 cm diameter) and place them on a parchment-lined tray.
  8. Preheat air fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and let it heat up for 3-5 minutes.
  9. Air fry cookie dough bites: Place the dough balls in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each. Cook for 6-8 minutes, checking around 6 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  10. Cool and serve: Let the bites cool for a few minutes on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Chilling the dough is crucial to achieve a crispy outside and gooey center. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. If bites cook too fast outside but remain undercooked inside, lower temperature to 325°F and cook longer. Use cooking spray or parchment to prevent sticking. For vegan or gluten-free versions, substitute ingredients accordingly.
