These savory pull-apart ham and Swiss sliders feature soft buns layered with smoky ham, melty Swiss cheese, and a sweet-tangy honey Dijon butter glaze, perfect for quick dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns (soft dinner rolls like King’s Hawaiian or Parker House style)
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) thinly sliced ham (deli ham, smoky or honey-glazed preferred)
  • 1012 slices Swiss cheese (Jarlsberg recommended)
  • 1/2 cup (115 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns horizontally into tops and bottoms, keeping the buns intact as much as possible.
  3. Arrange the bottom halves evenly in an 8×8-inch baking dish, close but not overcrowded.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns, about 1 ounce (28 grams) per slider, folding slightly for volume.
  5. Add Swiss cheese slices on top of the ham, overlapping slightly.
  6. Place the top halves of the slider buns carefully over the cheese layer, pressing down lightly.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, poppy seeds, and a pinch of black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  8. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the slider buns.
  9. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until tops are golden brown and cheese is melted.
  11. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes to allow cheese to set.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Use softened butter for smooth glaze. Avoid overloading ham and cheese to prevent soggy buns. Cover with foil during baking to keep sliders moist, remove foil for last few minutes for a golden top. Let sliders rest 5 minutes before serving for easier pulling apart. Can substitute gluten-free buns or dairy-free alternatives for dietary needs.
