This candy corn popcorn Halloween snack mix is a quick and easy treat that combines salty popcorn, chewy candy corn, and a white chocolate drizzle for the perfect salty-sweet-crunchy-chewy experience. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s a crowd-pleaser for Halloween parties, movie nights, or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted; about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or one 3-ounce bag of microwave popcorn)
  • 1 cup candy corn (classic or autumn mix; Brach’s recommended)
  • 1 cup salted peanuts (optional; use dry-roasted for less mess)
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips (Ghirardelli or Guittard recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (pure, not imitation)
  • Pinch of salt (flaky sea salt preferred)
  • ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles (optional; Wilton’s orange and black jimmies recommended)
  • ¼ cup candy pumpkins or autumn M&M’s (optional; Reese’s Pieces also work)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn using your preferred method (air popper recommended). Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let cool completely. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and fully melted (about 1 to 1 ½ minutes total). Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  3. Transfer the cooled popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Add candy corn and peanuts (if using). Pour the melted white chocolate over the top and fold gently with a spatula until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread the coated mixture back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle Halloween sprinkles and candy pumpkins (if using) over the top, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Let the mix sit at room temperature until the white chocolate is fully set, about 15-20 minutes (or refrigerate for 5-10 minutes for faster setting). Break into clusters and serve.

Notes

Don’t overheat the white chocolate; it seizes easily. Use room temperature popcorn to prevent the chocolate from seizing. Work quickly once the chocolate is added, as it sets fast. For a nut-free version, omit peanuts and add extra popcorn or pretzel sticks. For dairy-free, use dairy-free white chocolate and skip the coconut oil. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Do not refrigerate. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
