This quick and easy cranberry sauce combines fresh cranberries, orange, and ginger for a warm, nostalgic flavor that’s perfect for holidays or any cozy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (340g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1-inch piece (about 15g) fresh ginger, peeled and grated

Instructions

  1. Prep your aromatics: Wash the orange, zest it, and squeeze 1/2 cup of juice. Peel and grate the ginger.
  2. Infuse the base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, simmer the orange juice and grated ginger for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add cranberries and sugar: Add the cranberries and sugar to the pot and stir to combine.
  4. Bring to a boil, then simmer: Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  5. Finish and cool: Remove from heat, stir in orange zest. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer and chill: Pour into a jar or bowl, cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.

Notes

Don’t skip the ginger infusion step for best flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste. Sauce thickens as it cools. Can be made up to 2 weeks ahead.
