A simple and delicious campfire treat featuring bananas stuffed with melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows, perfect for outdoor or indoor enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • Aluminum foil for wrapping
  • Optional add-ins: chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans), cinnamon, nutmeg, peanut butter or almond butter, shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat your campfire or oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully slice each banana lengthwise, not cutting all the way through, leaving the peel intact to hold the filling.
  3. Gently open the banana slit and fill with chocolate chips or chunks and mini marshmallows, leaving some space to allow melting.
  4. Wrap each stuffed banana tightly in aluminum foil, sealing edges well to trap steam inside.
  5. Cook the wrapped banana boats on hot coals or a grill rack over the campfire for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally. If using an oven, bake for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Carefully unwrap one packet to check doneness; marshmallows should be golden and gooey, chocolate melted, and banana soft but not mushy.
  7. Serve immediately, scooping the warm filling directly from the peel or sliding onto a plate.

Notes

Use ripe bananas with some brown spots but still firm to avoid mushiness. Double wrap foil to prevent leaks or burning. Turn packets occasionally for even cooking. For indoor baking, place foil packets on a baking sheet to catch drips. Serve warm for best gooey texture. Variations include adding nuts, cinnamon, or using dairy-free chocolate and marshmallows for vegan options.
