A creamy, citrusy green punch with a spooky dry ice fog effect, perfect for Halloween parties. This easy non-alcoholic recipe comes together in minutes and is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 liter (4 cups) lime sherbet
  • 2 cups (480 ml) pineapple juice, unsweetened
  • 2 cups (480 ml) lemon-lime soda (e.g., Sprite or 7UP)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 1–2 pounds food-grade dry ice (optional, for fog effect)
  • Green food coloring (optional, for deeper color)
  • Plastic spiders or gummy worms (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Soften the sherbet: Remove lime sherbet from freezer and let sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes until soft but not melted.
  2. Mix the punch base: In a large punch bowl or beverage dispenser, combine softened lime sherbet, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda, and cold water. Stir gently until sherbet is mostly incorporated. Add green food coloring if desired.
  3. Chill the punch: Refrigerate the punch bowl for 15-20 minutes before serving. This step is crucial if using dry ice, as cold liquid makes the fog effect last longer.
  4. Add dry ice (safety first!): Using tongs or thick gloves, carefully add a small piece of dry ice (about the size of a golf ball) to the punch. Never touch dry ice with bare hands. The dry ice will sink and create spooky fog. Warn guests not to consume dry ice.
  5. Stir and serve: Give the punch one more gentle stir. Ladle into cups, avoiding any dry ice pieces. The fog effect lasts about 30-45 minutes; add more dry ice every 30 minutes to maintain the effect.
  6. Garnish (optional): Add plastic spiders, gummy worms, or mint leaves for a festive touch. For extra fun, freeze gummy worms into ice cubes and add to individual cups.

Notes

For dairy-free version, use coconut milk-based lime sorbet instead of sherbet. For lower sugar, use diet lemon-lime soda and sugar-free lime sorbet. Always handle dry ice with gloves or tongs and never ingest. The punch base can be made up to 24 hours in advance; add dry ice just before serving.
