A quick and easy smoothie bowl made with frozen banana, peanut butter, protein powder, and yogurt. Ready in under 5 minutes, it’s creamy, satisfying, and perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana (peeled and sliced before freezing)
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • For toppings (optional): sliced banana, drizzle of peanut butter, granola, cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips, shredded coconut, hemp seeds

Instructions

  1. Prep your frozen banana: If you haven’t already, peel a ripe banana, slice it into coins, and freeze them on a parchment-lined baking sheet for at least 4 hours. For this recipe, use about 1 cup of frozen banana slices.
  2. Add everything to the blender: Frozen banana slices, peanut butter, protein powder, almond milk, Greek yogurt, and chia seeds if using. Don’t worry about the order.
  3. Blend on low, then high: Start your blender on low speed for about 10 seconds to break up the frozen banana. Then ramp up to high speed for 20-30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  4. Scrape and check consistency: Stop the blender and scrape down the sides with a spatula. If too thick, add another tablespoon of milk and blend again. If too thin, add a few more frozen banana slices or a tablespoon of yogurt.
  5. Blend again briefly: Give it one more quick blend (10 seconds on high) to incorporate everything. The mixture should look smooth, creamy, and uniform in color.
  6. Spoon into a bowl: Use your spatula to transfer the smoothie into a serving bowl. It should be thick enough to mound slightly.
  7. Add your toppings: Arrange sliced banana, a drizzle of warm peanut butter, granola, cacao nibs, shredded coconut, and hemp seeds as desired.
  8. Serve immediately: Enjoy right away for the best texture.

Notes

For a thicker smoothie bowl, add more frozen banana or a tablespoon of yogurt. If your blender isn’t strong, let frozen banana sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before blending. Smoothie bowls don’t store well; enjoy immediately. For a vegan version, use dairy-free yogurt and plant-based protein powder.
