These creamy apple cinnamon overnight oats are a quick, no-cook breakfast that comes together in just 5 minutes. With a double texture from grated and diced apples, they’re perfect for busy mornings and taste like a warm hug.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (any kind)
  • 1/2 cup (120g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 medium apple (about 180g), half grated, half diced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the apple. Grate half of it (including skin) into a small bowl. Dice the other half into 1/4-inch cubes. Set aside.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine rolled oats, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), chia seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir to distribute evenly.
  3. In a liquid measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together milk, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup (or brown sugar) until smooth.
  4. Divide the dry oat mixture evenly between two 16-ounce jars or airtight containers.
  5. Pour the wet milk mixture evenly over the oats. Do not stir yet.
  6. Divide the grated and diced apple evenly between the jars, placing on top of the liquid. Gently stir everything together until oats are submerged and apple is distributed.
  7. Seal the jars tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  8. The next morning, stir the oats. If too thick, add a splash of milk. Serve cold or microwave for 45-60 seconds for a warm breakfast. Top with extra cinnamon, maple syrup, nuts, or diced apple as desired.

Notes

For best texture, use rolled oats (not instant or steel-cut). Grating half the apple creates a creamy base; dicing the other half adds tender chunks. Chia seeds are optional but add extra creaminess and fiber. Oats keep in the fridge for up to 5 days. To reheat, microwave for 45-60 seconds or warm on the stovetop.
