This creamy, spicy, and tangy buffalo chicken dip is perfect for game day or any gathering. Topped with a cool ranch drizzle, it’s a crowd-pleaser that comes together in about 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce
  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ¼ cup ranch dressing (for drizzle)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives or green onions
  • Crumbled blue cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish lightly with nonstick spray or butter.
  2. Shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces using two forks. If cold, microwave for 30 seconds to take the chill off.
  3. Soften the cream cheese if needed by microwaving in 10-second bursts until soft but not melted.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ½ cup buffalo sauce, ½ cup ranch dressing, and the dry ranch seasoning packet. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken, 1 cup of the sharp cheddar, and the Monterey Jack cheese using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of sharp cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly around the edges. For a browned top, broil for the last 2 minutes, watching closely.
  9. While the dip bakes, make the ranch drizzle: whisk together ¼ cup ranch dressing and 1 tablespoon milk in a small bowl until smooth.
  10. Remove the dip from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Drizzle the ranch mixture over the top in a zigzag or spiral pattern.
  12. Garnish with fresh chives or green onions and crumbled blue cheese if using.
  13. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot chips, pretzel bites, or crusty bread.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Don’t overmix the cream cheese. Watch the salt as buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and ranch seasoning all contain salt. The dip can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 4 days and can be reheated in the microwave or oven.
