A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and finished with a tangy-sweet balsamic glaze. Perfect as a flavorful side dish that pairs well with many meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts (about 450 grams), trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut each sprout in half lengthwise. Quarter larger sprouts for even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Place the sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 12 minutes, shaking or tossing halfway through to ensure even browning.
  5. While the sprouts cook, combine balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently until the mixture thickens to a syrupy consistency, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Transfer the cooked Brussels sprouts to a serving bowl and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top. Toss gently to coat or drizzle some glaze on the plate for presentation.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure crispiness. Preheat the air fryer before cooking. Shake or flip the sprouts halfway through cooking. Make the glaze low and slow to avoid bitterness. Glaze after cooking to prevent burning. Leftover glaze can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer or oven to maintain crispiness; avoid microwaving.
