Warm, crunchy, and sticky in all the right ways, these crispy caramel apple nachos come together in about 15 minutes. Perfect for a weeknight craving or a fall gathering, this dessert combines cinnamon sugar pita chips, tender apple slices, gooey caramel, and your favorite toppings for an unforgettable treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji preferred), sliced ¼-inch thick
  • 3 cups cinnamon sugar pita chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup caramel sauce, warmed
  • ⅓ cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
  • Extra caramel drizzle (optional, for serving)
  • Cinnamon dusting (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler with the oven rack about 6 inches from the top heating element.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Core the apples and slice into thin rings or half-moons, about ¼-inch thick (aim for 12-15 slices per apple). Leave the skin on.
  4. Spread the cinnamon sugar pita chips evenly in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Arrange the apple slices over the chips, overlapping slightly, so every chip has at least one apple slice resting on it.
  6. Brush the melted butter lightly over the apples and chips.
  7. Broil for 4-5 minutes, watching closely, until the apples soften and the chips deepen in color. Rotate the pan halfway through if needed.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle the warmed caramel sauce evenly over the hot apples and chips.
  9. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top so they start to melt, then add the chopped nuts and a generous pinch of flaky sea salt.
  10. Let the nachos rest for 2 minutes before serving to allow the caramel to set slightly and the chocolate chips to soften.
  11. Transfer to a serving platter or board. Top with whipped cream, extra caramel drizzle, and a light dusting of cinnamon if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Watch the broiler closely to prevent burning. Don’t skip the 2-minute rest to avoid a sticky mess. For best texture, serve immediately. Apples can be sliced a day ahead and stored in lemon water. For gluten-free, use gluten-free cinnamon crackers. For dairy-free, use dairy-free caramel sauce and vegan butter.
