These Easy Bento Box Turkey and Cheese Roll-Ups are a quick, 10-minute lunch solution that looks fancy but uses simple ingredients like turkey, cream cheese, and tortillas. Perfect for school lunches, road trips, or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

  • Large flour tortillas (10-inch works best; use whole wheat or spinach wraps for extra color)
  • Thinly sliced turkey breast (deli-style, about 6-8 slices per wrap; oven-roasted preferred)
  • Cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • Provolone or mozzarella cheese slices (thinly sliced)
  • Lettuce leaves, washed and dried completely (romaine or butter lettuce works great)
  • Salt and black pepper, a pinch each
  • Optional spread ideas: honey mustard, ranch dressing, pesto, or sun-dried tomato spread

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work surface. Lay a large flour tortilla flat on your cutting board. If the tortilla seems stiff, microwave it for about 10 seconds to make it more pliable.
  2. Spread the cream cheese. Using a butter knife or offset spatula, spread a thin, even layer of softened cream cheese over the entire surface of the tortilla, leaving about a half-inch border around the edges.
  3. Layer the turkey. Place 6-8 slices of turkey evenly over the cream cheese, overlapping slightly so there are no gaps.
  4. Add the cheese. Lay 2-3 slices of provolone or mozzarella on top of the turkey, tearing them in half if needed to cover evenly.
  5. Place the lettuce. Lay 2-3 lettuce leaves on top of the cheese, arranging them to cover the surface without bunching. Ensure the lettuce is completely dry.
  6. Season lightly. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt and pepper over the lettuce.
  7. Roll it up tight. Starting from the edge closest to you, roll the tortilla away from you as tightly as possible without tearing. Use your fingers to tuck in any fillings that try to escape. Place the roll seam-side down.
  8. Wrap and chill. Wrap the rolled tortilla tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper, twisting the ends like a candy wrapper. Refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes.
  9. Slice and serve. After chilling, unwrap the roll and place it on your cutting board. Using a serrated knife, slice the roll into 1-inch thick pieces (about 6-8 pieces per tortilla) using a gentle sawing motion.
  10. Pack or plate. Arrange the roll-ups in your bento box or on a serving plate. Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

For best results, let cream cheese soften at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before spreading. Chilling the roll for at least 15-20 minutes is crucial for clean slicing. If making for the next day’s lunch, slice in the morning rather than the night before to keep edges fresh. For a dairy-free version, use vegan cream cheese and dairy-free cheese slices. For a lower-carb option, use large lettuce leaves instead of tortillas.
