This easy candy corn popcorn Halloween snack mix brings back the nostalgic flavor of a beloved candy shop treat. It’s sweet, salty, crunchy, and chewy—the perfect Halloween snack that comes together in minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or two 3-ounce bags microwave popcorn)
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup candy pumpkins (optional but highly recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fall-colored M&Ms or candy-coated chocolate pieces
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn. Start with 12 cups of popped popcorn. If using an air popper, this takes about 3-4 minutes. If using microwave popcorn, pop two 3-ounce bags according to package directions. Spread the popcorn out on a large baking sheet and let it cool completely—about 5 minutes. Pick out any unpopped kernels.
  2. Prepare your add-ins. Measure out your candy corn, candy pumpkins (if using), peanuts, and M&Ms. Set them aside in separate bowls.
  3. Melt the white chocolate. Place 1 1/2 cups of white chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval. This usually takes about 90 seconds total. Stop heating when the chips are about 75% melted—the residual heat will finish the job as you stir.
  4. Coat the popcorn. Pour the melted white chocolate over the cooled popcorn in your large mixing bowl. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold the chocolate through the popcorn, making sure every piece gets some coating. Work quickly.
  5. Add the candy. While the white chocolate is still wet, sprinkle in the candy corn, candy pumpkins, peanuts, and M&Ms. Fold everything together gently so you don’t crush the popcorn or break the candy pieces.
  6. Spread and season. Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking sheet and spread it out in an even layer. While the white chocolate is still tacky, sprinkle the salt and any optional sprinkles over the top.
  7. Let it set. Allow the mix to cool completely at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes. The white chocolate needs to harden fully before you break it apart. If impatient, you can pop the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, but keep an eye on it.
  8. Break and serve. Once the white chocolate is completely set, break the mixture into bite-sized clusters. Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy.

Notes

Cool the popcorn completely before adding white chocolate to prevent sogginess. Work quickly once chocolate is melted. Add a pinch of salt to balance sweetness. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Do not refrigerate.
