A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in buttery, flaky crescent roll dough to look like mummies. Perfect for parties and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 oz or 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 regular-sized hot dogs (approx. 1 lb or 450 g), beef, pork, turkey, or plant-based
  • Mustard or ketchup (optional, for flavor layering)
  • Cheese slices or shredded cheese like cheddar or mozzarella (optional)
  • Black sesame seeds or black olive slices (optional, for mummy eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Optional: Spread a thin layer of mustard or ketchup on each hot dog. Add a thin slice or sprinkle of cheese on the sausage if desired.
  4. Wrap the dough strips around each hot dog, leaving small gaps to create the mummy look. Press the ends gently to secure.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the lined baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. Press two black sesame seeds or small pieces of black olives onto each mummy near one end to create eyes.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and crispy. Tent with foil halfway through baking if dough browns too quickly.
  8. Let the mummies cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a pizza cutter for even dough strips. Leave gaps in dough wrapping for a classic mummy look and better crispiness. Tent with foil if dough browns too fast. Assemble ahead and refrigerate up to 2 hours before baking. Reheat in oven to maintain crispiness; avoid microwaving.
