Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup hummus
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (optional)
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) baby carrots
  • 45 celery stalks, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved if large
  • 1 cup cucumber slices
  • 1 cup bell pepper strips (red, yellow, or orange)
  • 1/2 cup black olives (sliced or whole)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep all veggies: rinse broccoli, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and bell peppers under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels. Cut celery into 3-inch sticks, slice cucumber into rounds, cut bell peppers into thin strips, and halve cherry tomatoes if large. Set aside.
  2. Place the dip in the center: fill a small bowl with hummus and place it in the exact center of a large round platter. If using ranch, place it in a separate small bowl next to the hummus.
  3. Create the outer ring: arrange baby carrots around the edge of the platter, pointing inward like spokes, evenly spaced about an inch apart.
  4. Add the web lines: place celery sticks like spokes radiating from the dip bowl to the carrot ring, about 8-10 lines. Press ends gently into the hummus.
  5. Fill in the web sections: working in sections, fill spaces between celery spokes with alternating veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, cherry tomatoes) until the platter is full and colorful.
  6. Add the spider: arrange a few black olives in the center of the dip bowl to form a spider body. Use pretzel sticks as legs, breaking them in half if needed. Make one big spider or several small ones.
  7. Final touches: check for empty spots and fill with extra veggies. Sprinkle a few black olives around the web for extra spookiness. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

Dry veggies thoroughly to help dip adhere. Add pretzel sticks just before serving to prevent sogginess. Use a shallow bowl for dip to avoid overwhelming the web design. Customize with favorite veggies or dips. For a sweeter twist, use a strawberry for the spider body and licorice for legs.
