A quick and easy iced coffee recipe with brown sugar syrup and creamy oat milk. This 5-minute drink is a cozy, dairy-free alternative to coffee shop lattes, perfect for everyday indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or 2 shots espresso
  • 1/2 cup oat milk (barista blend recommended)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • Cinnamon stick or dash of cinnamon (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the brown sugar syrup: In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 2 tablespoons hot water. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 30 seconds. If needed, microwave for 10 seconds and stir again.
  2. Brew your coffee: Brew 1 cup of strong coffee or pull 2 shots of espresso. Use a little less water than usual for drip coffee to make it more concentrated.
  3. Assemble the base: Pour the brown sugar syrup into a tall glass. Add the hot coffee or espresso and stir well to incorporate.
  4. Add the ice: Fill the glass with 1 cup of ice cubes. Large cubes melt slower and keep the drink from getting watery.
  5. Pour in the oat milk: Slowly pour 1/2 cup oat milk over the ice. Do not stir yet.
  6. Stir and finish: Gently stir to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or creaminess as desired. Add a pinch of sea salt if using. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a light dusting of cinnamon.
  7. Enjoy immediately: Serve fresh while the ice is cold and the oat milk is perfectly chilled.

Notes

For best results, use barista blend oat milk to prevent curdling. Make brown sugar syrup in bulk (1 cup brown sugar + 1 cup water) and store in the fridge for up to two weeks. For a less sweet version, reduce brown sugar to 1 tablespoon. If using regular oat milk, let it come to room temperature before adding to hot coffee. Freeze coffee into ice cubes for a stronger drink.
