These Spooky Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a fun and easy Halloween treat made with cocktail wieners wrapped in crescent dough strips, baked until golden, and served with a spicy mustard dipping sauce. Perfect for parties or a late-night snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 12 cocktail wieners or mini hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 12 small dots of mustard (for the eyes)
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch of garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated dough, pinch the seams together. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide, to get 12 to 16 strips.
  3. Take one cocktail wiener and wrap a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Overlap slightly and do not wrap too tightly.
  4. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  5. Brush each mummy with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2 minutes. Use a toothpick to dab two small dots of mustard onto each mummy for eyes.
  8. While the mummies are baking, whisk together the yellow mustard, honey, sriracha, smoked paprika, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Adjust to taste.
  9. Serve warm with the spicy mustard sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use vegan butter or olive oil. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent dough. The spicy mustard sauce can be made up to a week in advance. To prevent dough from unraveling, tuck the end underneath the mummy or use a toothpick. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes.
